Civic Center History

The Glens Falls Civic Center was built in 1979 as part of the city's Urban Renewal Era and has hosted a wide variety of events throughout the years.

From the 1930s to the 1980s, the printed image in American art went through profound changes. Milton Avery, Thomas Hart Benton, Dorothy Dehner, Jim Dine, Richard Estes, Helen Frankenthaler, Jasper Johns, Alex Katz, Robert Motherwell, Ann Ryan, Andy Warhol, and Grant Wood are a few of the artists represented in this exhibition covering fifty years of growth in the popularity of printmaking. This exhibition was organized by the Syracuse University Art Collection.

Birch Bark Picture Frames and Mirrors with Jim Schreiner

This is a great class for beginners with limited experience with woodworking and tools. You will select a frame and learn how to cut and fasten the Birch bark, twigs, and other natural objects to create your own “masterpiece”. Come see why this is one of our most popular classes. You'll be proud to hang this in your home! This 1+1/2 day call is held on Saturday 9-4, and on Sunday 9-12. Tuition $145. Member Tuition $130. Materials Fee $30.
