5 Hour Pre-licensing Course
Mon, Oct 6, 2014 | 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM
This five-hour pre-licensing course is required by New York State Department of Motor Vehicles for all applicants who want to take a road test for a driver's license. A MV-278 completion certificate needed for road test appointments will be issued at the conclusion of this class. Students should arrive 10 minutes before class starts. Class starts promptly at 5pm. A New York State Learner's Permit is required and must be brought to class. Pre-registration is required through Continuing Education.

Join us in welcoming the Adirondack Flames Hockey team to Glens Falls. Adirondack Flames President Brian Petrovek will talk about their first season in Glens Falls. Mr. Petrovek will discuss the exciting game of hockey and his experience as an All-American goaltender and as Managing Owner/CEO for the Portland Pirates. He will provide information on the exciting promotional platform that will invigorate the city with pre, post and in game specials throughout the city of Glens Falls, as well as inside the Civic Center during games. October 11th will mark the beginning of the 26th season of AHL hockey in Glens Falls and the inaugural season for the Adirondack Flames. This is a great opportunity to learn about hockey or "reflame" your passion for the game. The Senior Lunch and Learn Series are for community members who are 55+. Reservations are required by calling 518-793-1494. Program is a partnership of the Family YMCA of the Glens Falls area, Greater Glens Falls Senior Citizens Center and The Glens Falls Home, Inc.

Switching Hands

This course is offered for people who are experiencing difficulty using their dominant hand due to age, illness or accident. It may also appeal to anyone wanting to be ambidextrous. The concept stresses spatial relationship on a broader scale rather than printing or cursive writing, making progress easier and more rapidly achieved. The method uses observational drawing with measurement and contour relationships to translate simple objects onto paper with a charcoal stick.The instructor, Tom O'Brien, is a professional artist and sculptor who has developed problems with his dominant hand and therefore trained his left hand to become proficient in everyday tasks.

The Singing Anchors: Together Again

Performing together again after a nine-month hiatus surrounding the birth of Jessica Layton's first child, the new mom musically rejoins Jerry Gretzinger and Benita Zahn in an evening of duets, group numbers, and dramatic solos sure to entertain and to move. Layton and Zahn are news anchors on WNYT, Albany's NewsChannel 13, and Gretzinger, a former CBS6 anchor, now is VP of Communications at Albany's College of Nanoscience and Engineering. The Singing Anchors have been entertaining all around the Capital Region since being formed at Fort Salem in 2009.
