Closing time may be changing for all bars in Glens Falls if the mayor has his way. In the last few weeks Glens Falls Mayor John "Jack" Diamond has announced publicly that he will be making efforts to push the mandatory closing time from 4 a.m. to 2 a.m. for bars in Glens Falls. The goal is to stop the violence and illegal activities intoxicated patrons are causing around the bars on South St. in Glens Falls, NY. Diamond has been trying to improve the late night "quality of life" patrols that put more police around South St. in the late and early hours of the day.
Local bar owners believe that the change will lead to more problems with the city, just not on South St. Some owners believe that there will be more drunk drivers on the road after 2 a.m. because people will not be ready to call it a night at 2 a.m. Another dispute is if there will be more drunk drivers headed down to bars in Saratoga because they will still be open until 4 a.m.
What do you think should happen to bar's closing time in Glens Falls? Should they stay at 4 a.m., or be changed to 2 a.m., or something else?
