What's New In Glens Falls

50 Years At The Hyde

In and around the Glens Falls Area, the Hyde Collection at the Hyde Museum on Warren Street is renowned for its great collection of art.  The original house was built in 1912, but it was Charlotte Hyde's dearest ambition to have the family's fantastic collection of art pieces  turned into a museum that everyone could enjoy.

In 1963, she got her wish when the Hyde Collection went public, becoming a museum for everyone to enjoy! Now, as we enter 2013, the collection is celebrating 50 years as one of the area's premier centers for the fine arts.

To celebrate this milestone, the museum will feature a major exhibition of art that has been added to the collection over the past 50 years.  "50 at 50: Five Decades of Collecting at the Hyde" will feature traditional and classic art, but there will also be a focus on modern and contemporary art; the museum's fastest growing collection.

The exhibition begins January 26 and will run until April 14.  The exhibition will take place in the Wood Gallery. Is there a better way to beat cabin fever than to get to the Hyde Museum to celebrate fifty years of fine art?

Will we see you there? Tell us what you love about the Hyde!
