New Facelift Procedure Introduced In Glens Falls Region

One of the most common concerns of a facelift is staying out of the sun, but with the new ultherapy procedure, offered exclusively in Glens Falls, patients looking to get a facelift and shine in the sun no longer have to compromise.
This non-invasive treatment uses ultrasound waves to heat up the deep tissue of your skin, tightening and lifting the area being treated.

Introduced five years ago, and now FDA approved, ultherapy is offered locally in the Glens Falls region only by Dr. William Brender of Adirondack Aesthetics Arts Medical Spa.

Brender began offering the new procedure three months ago and has treated over 20 patients so far.

Brender said he is the only doctor offering the ultherapy procedure locally at the moment because board certified plastic surgeons who have aestheticians are the only ones allowed to do so. He said the procedure is also used in other places such as New York City and New Jersey.

"I am hoping people will visit the Adirondacks to get this treatment here and enjoy a vacation at the same time," said Brender.

And doing both at the same time can now be a reality thanks to ultherapy's unique qualities.

"This is a one-time treatment," Brender said. "Laser and intense light treatments all need three to four treatments, have downtime and require you to stay out of the sun."

The 30- to 45-minute ultherapy procedure is also color blind, causing the color of your skin to have no effect on the treatment or results, said Brender.

Once the procedure is completed, the skin feels firmer almost immediately. Even so, Brender said the "tightening and lifting process is slow and takes 90-180 days to see the full results."ultherapy-actual-patient-2.jpg

Although the treatment is permanent, Brender likes to think of it as simply "turning back time."

"You will continue to age," said Brender. "The good news is you can get second and third treatments if you desire."

Currently, the FDA has only approved ultherapy treatment to the face and neck, but the possibility of treating the lower abdomen and inner thigh is being tested.

The procedure can be done on most patients at any time in their lives, but Brender advises that diabetic patients and those on anti-inflammatory medication do not get treated.

"There is a need for an inflammatory response to the treatment so that new collagen is created to make the face look younger and tighter," said Brender. "Diabetics and people who are on anti-inflammatory medication have a decreased inflammatory response, and therefore, are not 'ideal' patients.'"

It is the future of this technology that has Brender excited, though.

"What really intrigues me is the possibility of treating younger patients at repeated intervals to prevent the need for invasive facelifts," said Brender. "I have found that many people look different after a facelift, and I am looking for the natural look."

So if you're considering a facelift but don't want to sacrifice fun in the sun this summer, be sure to check out Dr. Brender and the ultherapy process!

Have you heard of the ultherapy process before? What are your thoughts on it?

Special thanks to Dr. Brender for providing before and after photos of his actual patients.
