The new restaurant has a bit of a courthouse theme, and the dishes are named after famous criminals. The "Butch Cassidy" Burger and the "Lobster Gotti" are fan favorites. The menu features American cuisine with a California/Cajun edge.
The building, which inspired the theme of the restaurant, features high ceilings, brick walls, and original molding. There is also reception/wedding space upstairs in the old amphitheater.
The owners agreed that Saratoga Springs isn't busy all year, and that the parking issue in the village was posing a problem for customers. Hudson Falls is bit more small business oriented, and Beale is hopeful that the new restaurant will motivate some in the area to open their own small businesses.
This is an awesome place, and the old building just adds to the whole character of the restaurant. If you live in Hudson Falls, or are passing through, stop for a bite to eat, and try not to end up in the slammer.

Scott & Jamie,
Congrats! on the opening. Hudson Falls needs a decent establishment such as 'The Gavel.'
I have extensive hisorical records on the courthouse itself (first dates of electricity, telephone, etc.). I also have the records from when Wash. Co. approved its construction until its closing. Many historical activities happened in that courthouse (murder trials and all).
I am so glad that you've taken the building out of its former vacant state and put life back into it. I would be more than happy to work with the both of you to help put historical integrity back into the building. There are so many stories about the building that most do not know (sheriff corruption...using the building as a whore house). There is trial evidence to support the stories.
I'd love to hear from the both of you.
Ryan
