The Glens Falls Civic Center welcomes another lively hockey season back to the arena starting with the Adirondack Phantoms home-game opener on Friday, October 15, 2010. The Civic Center looks forward to cheering on the home-town hockey team, the Adirondack Phantoms, as a new season gets underway. The Phantoms are an American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and play their home games right here in Glens Falls, NY.
It has only been the past few years that the Phantoms have called the Civic Center home. Regardless, the news was exciting to hockey fans in the area. Glens Falls native and season-ticket holder, Chris LaHaise said “I grew up playing hockey during the week and going to Red Wings games on the weekend. When I heard that the Phantoms would be bringing hockey back to Glens Falls, I knew I had to get tickets.”
The Glens Falls Civic Center is hoping the Phantoms bring in around 4,000 people a night in order to please the AHL. If they don’t, it might be the last chance for Glens Falls to bring in a professional hockey team. The Adirondack Red Wings and the Adirondack Frostbite are two teams that have called the Civic Center their home. The Red Wings played there for twenty years before leaving town and being replaced by the Frostbite in 1999.
The Phantoms season starts early October 2010 and goes until April 2011, so there is still plenty of time to get your hands on some home-game tickets! Ticket prices range from $11-$26 (for non-season ticket holders) and most games are in the evening beginning at 7:00 or 7:30 so it is easy to get the family to them!
