Things To Do > Off the Beaten Path: Gurney Lane!

Part of the attraction of living in the Glens Falls region is that it offers far more to do than meets the eye! A perfect example: The Gurney Lake recreation facility just off Exit 20 of the Adirondack Northway in Queensbury NY!  This hidden gem is one of those ‘off the beaten path’ destinations that is a surprise and a delight for visitors and families looking for something to do while in the Glens Falls area.

Tucked amid the wooded hills, this town park is set on a 100-acre parcel run by the Queensbury Parks and Recreation Department.  The Gurney Lane park has something for everyone when it comes to winter fun! Some of the activities available during the winter months:

  • Groomed and color-coded trails for cross country skiing and snowshoeing, available from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekends.
  • Hills for sledding
  • Ice skating rink at Gurney Lane is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekends.
  • The Queensbury Parks and Recreation Department also floods and maintains ice skating rinks at the Queensbury school tennis courts. Weather and conditions permitting, they are open from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. weekdays, and from noon until 8:00 p.m. on weekends.gurney lane map
