Queensbury Parks & Rec maintains a slew of parks, preserves, and hiking trails that are excellent for walking, biking, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing

The Queensbury Land Conservancy maintains additional trails, as in the VanDusen Preserve.

There's also the Warren County Bikeway, which runs from Lake George through Queensbury to Glens Falls, and the Glens Falls Feeder Canal Trail, which runs from Queensbury through Glens Falls and Hudson Falls to Fort Edward.

2) Our Own Ski Mountain

West Mountain not only offers downhill skiing and tubing in the winter, but they also offer hiking, biking, a treetop adventure course, scenic chairlift rides, and more.

They host a variety of special events throughout the year, including Fire on the Mountain in February, a Ski & Sports Gear Swap in November, and they even have a farmers market in the summer.

3) The North Country's Retail Shopping Haven

The region's primary mall and movie theater is situated in Queensbury - Aviation Mall.

Here you'll find classic stores like Target and JCPenny, plus unique businesses like the Trading Card Hub, Adirondack Axe, Adirondack Zombie Hunters, and two arcades.

Queensbury is also home to Glenwood Manor Antiques, which has over 30 rooms filled with antiques sourced from over two dozen dealers.

4) Home of a World Renowned Amusement Park

Although it is commonly thought to be in Lake George, the Six Flags Great Escape & Hurricane Harbor amusement park is actually located in the Town of Queensbury!

This family-friendly theme park dates back to the 1950s, prior to Six Flags taking it over, and includes roller coasters and other theme park rides, live entertainment, and special events.

The waterpark has everything from toddler-friendly splash zones to massive waterslides and pipelines, bucket blasters, and a wave pool.

This famed theme park typically opens in May and runs through October, when Octoberfest and Fright Fest festivities take place.

5) A Rich & Exciting History

The Lake George region was one of the key locations in the French and Indian War, and because of this, the Town of Queensbury holds historical significance. Throughout the town, blue and yellow markers depict past events that happened at those sites, plus there are other historical signs at parks and other significant spots.

The Warren County Historical Society, located in Queensbury, has several collections that history buffs will find intriguing, including archeological artifacts, historic postcards, old records, and more.

7) An Easily Accessible Location

Queensbury is located right off of I-87 between Exits 18 and 20. Those traveling by car can reach Albany in an hour, Boston in three and a half hours, and New York City in approximately four hours. Montreal is also under three hours away by car.

Greater Glens Falls Transit, headquartered in Queensbury, operates a municipal bus and trolley system bringing riders through Glens Falls, Queensbury, and up to Lake George.
