There is nothing like a parade to get you in the spirit of the season! Don't miss the 37th Annual Post-Star Holiday Parade on Sunday, November 20, 2016!

This year's theme is "All That Glitters." The Grand Marshals will be Tom Myott, Dan Albert, and Jody Sheldon, South High Marathon Dance advisers.

The Holiday Parade takes place every year on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. As tradition holds, the parade will begin at 1:00 pm from Carriage Traders in South Glens Falls. It will then travel north along Route 9 through the village of South Glens Falls. The parade will showcase more than 110 entries, which include community groups, bands, floats, costumed characters, marchers and of course, an appearance by a very special guest: Santa Claus!

Beneficiaries for this year's parade will be Marine Corps Memorial Detachment No. 2's Toys for Girls and Boys and the Tri-County United Way "Live United" programs. These two groups distribute donated new toys and non-perishable food items to local families in Warren, Washington and northern Saratoga counties.

Parade participants and spectators are asked to please bring the following items:

  • A new, unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Girls and Boys
  • A non-perishable food item to donate to the Tri-County United Way

Items for donation may also be brought to any Glens Falls National Bank office in the days leading up to the parade.

Groups are encouraged to participate in the event by registering online at www.poststar.com. Business sponsorships are available by contacting Patti Crotty, retail advertising manager of The Post-Star, at 742-3287 or .

Gail Hamel of Hamel Resources LLC is working with The Post-Star as parade coordinator. For more information about the parade, or call her at 761-1220.
