The Post Star Holiday Parade
Sunday November 22, 2015
There is nothing like a parade to get you in the spirit of the season! Don't miss the 36th Annual Post Star Holiday Parade on Sunday, November 22nd, 2015!
The Post-Star, the sponsor of the annual November parade, allowed readers to select the theme in December through online voting. This year's reader-selected theme is “Winter Wonderland.” The Grand Marshals will be Gerald "Jerry" Eichin and Frank Munoff, founders of Operation Santa Claus.
The Holiday Parade takes place every year on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. As tradition holds, the parade will begin at 1:00 pm from Carriage Traders and Kingpin's Alley Family Fun Center in South Glens Falls. It will then travel north along Route 9 through the village of South Glens Falls.
The parade will showcase more than 110 entries, which include community groups, bands, floats, costumed characters, marchers and of course, an appearance by a very special guest: Santa Claus!
Beneficiaries for this year's parade will once again be Memorial Detachment No.2 of the Marine Corps League Toys for Tots and the Tri-County United Way "Live United" programs. These two groups distribute donated new toys and non-perishable food items to local families in Warren, Washington and northern Saratoga counties.
Parade participants and spectators are asked to please bring the following items:
- A new, unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots
- A non-perishable food item to donate to the Tri-County United Way "Live United" Program
Items for donation may also be brought to any Glens Falls National Bank office in the days leading up to the parade.
Groups are encouraged to participate in the event by registering online at www.poststar.com. Business sponsorships are available by contacting Susan Bonk, advertising director of The Post-Star, at 742-3243 or .
