September 2012 Archives
Last weekend we kicked off the fall season in Glens Falls with the 40th birthday of the Adirondack Balloon Festival in Queensbury. This weekend at City Park in Glens Falls we will be celebrating the 20th birthday of the Taste Of The North Country! Last weekend inspired me to cook comfort foods for the weekend, this weekend is sure to inspire me to eat!
Nothing marks the beginning of fall like Adirondack Balloon Festival weekend! This year it's bigger than ever as the festival celebrates it's 40th birthday. Catching the balloons as they lift off in the early morning involves getting up at the crack of dawn (literally), but it is totally worth it.
The schedule for this weekend brought to mind some quick & easy dishes that can be done the day before and reheated quickly throughout the weekend. These will cover breakfast, lunch and dinner. Just add a tossed salad to round out the meal.
Fall is here again and that means it's apple season! This Apple Cider Martini has so much flavor and is an absolute must-try cocktail for this autumn.
As summer 2012 comes to an end and we head into fall in the Adirondacks, it's time to get down to some serious cooking. This is my favorite time of year to cook because I get the end of the summer harvest and the early fall harvest
One of my favorite ways to spend an afternoon this time of year is to do a food crawl. I take a drive through the Adirondacks, check out the multitude of farmers' markets & farm stands in Glens Falls, Queensbury and then work my way north, stopping at every farm stand I see. I stock up on everything from herbs to dry or use for pesto to "ugly tomatoes" that I can use for my winter supply of sauce.
