Foodies Review: Gavel Grille in Hudson Falls, NY

IMAG0514.jpgLast Friday, my fellow foodies and I had the opportunity to review a new restaurant in Hudson Falls called the Gavel Grille. I have to say, we were pleasantly surprised.

We started off with some nice big Sangrias. Something about wine and fresh fruit on a sunny day just tastes sooo good.
We then ordered some starters:

Clyde's Cheesy Artichoke Dip - Oh. My. God. If an appetizer could be labeled "dreamy" this would be it because I'm dreaming about it right now! Amazing. It had just the right amount of cheese with a little bit of a crab bite to it. The warm baguettes that came with it were a perfect accompaniment.  This is an absolute must get if you ever visit the Gravel Grille.

Mad Dog Skins - These were also pretty good, (but not quite as good as that artichoke dip!) The loaded potatoes were topped with applewood smoked bacon, scallions, cheddar and sour cream. Every week they switch it up with new toppings so be sure to ask your server what it is that week.

Then came dinner:

I got the Scallops with Spinach Pasta off the specials menu. ($24.95) This dish was unbelievable!  Scallops are tricky to cook just right, but the chef nailed it. The spinach pasta was unique and tasty, and the light cream sauce and shaved parmesan added the perfect touch.

Maura got the Baby Face Boswell Veggie Burger. ($9.95) Topped with red onion, tomato, sprouts and chipotle mayo cheddar, she "loved how instead of a traditional bun the veggie burger came on a pretzel roll!"

Jen went with the Devils Island Pasta - a beautiful pasta dish with linguini, mushrooms, chicken, Marsala & Riesling, herbs cilantro with a topping of shaved parmesan. She described this dish as "absolutely amazing" and "didn't want it to end."

Overall Rating: The service, food, and atmosphere were all superb! We definitely will be going back. We liked how the menu caters to different tastes and price ranges, whether you're in the mood for a burger for $10, or a nice gourmet meal for $25. They cater too, so keep them in mind for your next event or party. We encourage you to check them out! Call them at 518-409-8970 or visit their website. Happy eating!

Glens Falls Gourmet Rating: We give the Gavel Grill 5 chef hats out of 5!
