Lssft-logo.jpgast weekend, Jen and I attended the Saratoga Springs Food Tour. It's a walking tour of Saratoga unique little treasures. We had the chance to sample some of Saratoga finest foods and learned a little history too!

We started off at the Saratoga Farmers Market. Each Saturday in the summer, over 50 local farmers gather here to display there their yummy, fresh products!

Our first stop was So Lively Tapenade where we tried homemade red pepper chips.

Saratoga!

Last night, two chefs from the Capital Region battled it out in an "Iron Chef" style competition! It was game on between Albany vs. Saratoga as Chef John Ireland of Panza's Restaurant and A.J. Jayapal of The Brown Derby Restaurant went head to head to see who could be labeled the ultimate culinary mastermind. The chefs were told seconds before the competition what the secret ingredient was (a lemon!) which had to be used in each part of the meal - the appetizer, main entree and dessert.

Cinco De Mayo is this Saturday May 5th. Have a little celebration of your own this year!

In honor of this upcoming holiday we've put together a delightful dessert/snack recipe Cinnamon Tortilla Crisps.

IMAG0514.jpgLast Friday, my fellow foodies and I had the opportunity to review a new restaurant in Hudson Falls called the Gavel Grille. I have to say, we were pleasantly surprised.

We started off with some nice big Sangrias. Something about wine and fresh fruit on a sunny day just tastes sooo good.

Mary Longley Beside cooking being my middle name, most people call me Mary. My cooking experience started out of necessity, and with lots of successes and not so successful gourmet delights, I learned to be a little creative with some foods and found things that stay consistently on my list. Spending time in the kitchen is therapy for me and entertaining to share the successes. I look forward to sharing some of my creativity with everyone.

Jennifer McDonald I'm Jennifer, a twenty-something foodie residing in Saratoga Springs. My passion for food began as a young girl, when my parents would cook amazing meals. They would bribe me to try new foods by offering me twenty five cents each time I tried something new that I didn't think I'd like. After giving them a semi hard time I typically liked most foods they made me try and I attribute that to being open to trying new foods today. I have a binder of my favorite family, cookbook and web recipes I've found over the years. However, I am always willing to try new recipes with the hope of adding them to my recipe collection. My kitchen is my favorite room in the house. Cooking brings joy to my life and I hope to share some of my favorite recipes and ideas with others in the Glens Falls Gourmet blog!
