Gaiters, Half-Gaiters, and Spatter-dashers In this two-day workshop look at legwear, both formal military gaiters in the French & Indian war, and at simple farmer's half-gaiters, which were pressed into service like so much civilian clothing during the Revolutionary War.

The City Center warmly extends an invitation to the public to take a look back at Saratoga Springs’ fascinating convention history and be enlightened as well. The presentation will be held at the City Center on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 7-8:30pm. The City Center enjoys “Bringing People Together” and this event will be one for the history books!

Deputy County Clerk Charles Foehser II and County Historian Lauren Roberts will discuss the many different types of records available for Saratoga County. They will explore the vast online record collections available and explain how to access them, and also the lesser known collections that are available at the Saratoga County Complex in Ballston Spa.

Bring history alive as you explore our 18th/19th Century Two-Story, National Registry home. You will find A Keeping Room, Loft, and secret Hiding Place, along with a Summer Kitchen, Victorian Parlor and Bedroom. Enjoy a walk around the beautiful grounds and visit the 1812 One-Room Schoolhouse and the “Simpler Time” Tool Shed. Shop at our Peddler Cart and relax at one of our picnic tables.

The Saratoga Springs Public Library invites you to come and share your (and your grandparents') stories of school days in Saratoga Springs on Wednesday, May 7 from 11 AM to 12:30 PM in the H. Dutcher Community Room. Community members who attended a public or private school in the city (especially before 1970) are invited to bring stories, mementos, memories and photos to share. Didn't attend school in Saratoga, but want to hear all about it? You're welcome to join in the fun as well!

The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation invites you to the Preservation Celebration honoring the Saratoga Room of the Saratoga Springs Public Library and the Saratoga Spa State Park and its partners on Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Saratoga Automobile Museum. The Spirit of Preservation Award honors organizations and individuals who through their vision and dedication have fostered historic preservation in Saratoga Springs and contributed to the overall quality of life in our City.

    And we're off? to the races ADK style. Our Black Fly Affair: A Hikers' Ball will be held Saturday evening, May 31st, from 6:30 - 11pm at the Hiland Park Country Club in Queensbury, NY. This year, we invite you to Trek to the Track for an evening of great fun, fanfare and fundraising. The stakes are high, and we've only just rounded the Clubhouse Turn. Included in the festivities are dining, dancing, live and silent auctions, 'Dicey Wooden Horse Racing', a 'fabulous' hat contest, 'horse auction', signature brewpub fresh ales sampling from sponsor Davidson Brothers of Glens Falls and hand crafted spirits tasting from sponsor Lake George Distilling Co.     ATF kicks off its 20th Anniversary Season with the home grown comedy, Fully Committed which premiered at ATF in 1998. After its world premiere, the show received an acclaimed Off-Broadway run during which it was dubbed “the hottest show in town” by Entertainment Weekly. It has since become one of the most produced plays in the American regional theatre. This summer it comes home to ATF.
