Nick Patten is a native of Troy, New York and received a B.A. in Fine Arts at the College of Saint Rose. In addition to dozens of solo and group shows at a variety of venues nationwide, Patten?s work can be seen in many private and public collections throughout the world. Corporate and museum collections in which he can be seen include the New York Public Library, the Print Club of Albany Permanent Collection, the Boston Public Library and the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum of Rutgers University. Currently residing in Hudson in New York?s scenic Hudson Valley Region, Mr. Patten continues to paint and exhibit throughout the Northeast. Patten?s realist paintings are about light and surface. The artist works from photographs to develop haunting compositions on interiors that include highly reflective surfaces and dramatic lighting situations. At the same time, these works include objects of a mundane nature, such as chairs, tables and doorways. Patten?s works are beautifully composed to draw you into quiet yet intimate scenes. Most recently, Patten received top honors at The Laffer Gallery?s first annual Juried Group Show, ?Upstate Artists,? in the fall of 2012. ?Upstate Artists? featured an impressive cross-section of the vibrant and artistic talent across the Upstate New York region. As winner of Best-In-Show, we are pleased to feature Mr. Patten for the early Summer 2013 season.
