Rhyme on My Hands: A Tribute to the Art of the Comic Song

When:
Sunday, May 21, 2017
2:00 PM to 3:30 PM
Where:
The Cabaret at Fort Salem Theater, 11 E Broadway, Salem, NY 12865
Cost:
$20

“Rhyme on My Hands” is the latest excuse for a cabaret performance by Byron Nilsson and his longtime musical director, Malcolm Kogut. This is the humor of clever wordplay and well-wrought rhymes, for an audience that does its crossword puzzles in ink. Songs like “Lydia the Tattooed Lady,” “The Sloth,” and “The Butler’s Song” will liven the program created with an eye (and ear) to what amuses them most. Another part of their repertory includes forgotten songs of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, among them: “Why Do They All Take the Night Boat to Albany?” Nilsson and Kogut appear regularly at Caffè Lena, and have performed at Schenectady’s Van Dyck Restaurant, Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, the SUNY Albany Performing Arts Center, Albany’s Eighth Step Coffeehouse, Steamer No. 10 Theatre, and the Otesaga Hotel.
