Renewal and enrichment awaits you at Wiawaka. Your all inclusive stay provides healthful meals, lodging, workshops, yoga & pilates, lake swimming, walking trails & gardens.Season and day passes. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Wiawaka is the oldest women's retreat in the country and is located on one of the most beautiful properties on Lake George conveniently close to Lake George Village. Founded in 1903 as a retreat for women, Wiawaka today still offers a peaceful getaway.

A stay at Wiawaka is a respite from the hectic pace of life today-the historic buildings and beautiful grounds harken back to a simpler time. There are no TVs or phones in the rooms, and open windows and fans are used instead of air conditioning. You'll feel like a kid at camp again as you simply enjoy walking the grounds and taking in the incredible views, relaxing on the dock & swimming in Lake George. You'll return from your stay at Wiawaka relaxed & rejuvenated.

Overnight visits include meals, use of the beach and lakeside dock and participation in workshops and activities offered during your stay ( see our calendar ). Season & day passes and single meals can be purchased as well.

Wiawaka has 60 pristine acres with herb, vegetable and perennial gardens, a labyrinth, lake swimming, a large dock, lake access for your kayak or canoe, walking and light hiking trails. Located just one mile from the village of Lake George on the eastern shore of the lake.

Clean, comfortable guest cottages and rooms intentionally preserved to their original design; no phones, no TV's and shared baths. All buildings offer lakeviews and generous screened in porches with plenty of rocking chairs-perfect for your morning coffee and reading.

This summer's calendar includes yoga, pilates, writing workshops, historical lectures, cooking classes, musical performances and more. With the exception of an occassional materials fee, there is no extra cost for workshops and classes. You can participate in as much or as little as you like. Please sign up for workshops and classes when making your reservation.

Men accompanied by women are welcome in July.

Wiawaka is a 501C3 not for profit. Financial assistance for women in need.

I worked at Wiawaka the summers of 1985 & 1986 in the kitchen and did cleaning. Lisa D was the cook and Grace O was in charge of everything. I will all ways hold Wiawaka in my heart. I will be 43 yeas old this summer and think about going back for a visit.

Wiawaka Holiday House is a place for women to join in laughter, companionship and meet new friends; or to find solitude and peace. While close to the village, it's easy to find a quiet spot. There are gardens, walking trails, a labyrinth, a dock for sunning, paddle boats, shady porches, and delicious, healthy meals. There are events going on all summer that are mostly free for guests (see the calendar on the Wiawaka.org website). This place is uniquely wonderful!
