Greenwich NY

Originally called Whipple City, Greenwich (pronounced Green-witch, unlike its English and Massachusetts counterparts) is a small village with a dignified name. However, residents still refer to their hometown's past fondly as its "Whipple City Days."

The village is divided by the Batten Kill, a river rich in opportunities for trout fishing and a popular destination for that reason.

Greenwich was also an important stop on the underground railroad, one of the last before runaway slaves escaped to freedom in Canada.

The small community is proud of its quaint and singular roots, and any visitor will need only a minute to see why.
